Welcome to the Tulsa Poster Project Archives

Welcome to the Tulsa Poster Project Archival Website. My Name is David Dean and I have been collecting Concert Posters since the early 1980s. Posters have become a passion for me. I live in Tulsa Oklahoma, and have developed a special affinity for Posters and Handbills / Flyers from Tulsa and the surrounding areas. Tulsa's rich musical heritage is reflected in the material produced to promote the concerts by the many diverse acts that have played here over the years. As there is currently no effort to archive these Posters and Handbills, this is my attempt.
I want to share my passion with you.
The images in the Archive Section are photographed directly from my collection, only from original first print items. Some are not in the best of shape, but to me it is amazing that many of them still exist at all. So here they are in their naked state; the good, the bad and the ugly. There is also a section of images I have culled from second-hand sources - the internet and reprints of posters I don't possess - for the sake of completeness. This section follows below the 'Archives' link. Together, I hope they provide a fairly comprehensive view of Tulsa area Concert Posters and Handbills.
The images are posted chronologically as best as I can determine their dates, rather than categorized according to artist, venue or act, etc. This site concentrates mainly on pieces printed before 2000. I will try to identify any known reprints and note distinguishing characteristics of the posters. I welcome any comments or feedback.
Occasionally there are posters from other areas listed, e.g., OKC, Norman, Shreveport, Kansas, etc. I include these because they may be linked to the Tulsa Poster Heritage in some way; by a Tulsa promoter or artist -- or because they are just cool ... hey, it's my site.
Disclaimer: I apologize for the quality of some of the images. I am not a professional photographer nor do I have professional equipment. I hope the pictures will suffice.
Please note that these posters are NOT for sale. They are posted here strictly for your enjoyment and as a resource for reference.
I do have numerous duplicates for sale or trade however, feel free to  email  me with any interests.
I hope this site will continue to grow, and I ask your help to add to the archives. If you have any Tulsa area Posters, Handbills or Flyers not pictured here or that are in better condition, please send me a photo for inclusion. Of course, I am a collector first and always interested in obtaining any local posters ... any artist, any venue, any date, any condition. I will buy your posters.
email  me with any comments, posters for sale or if you just want to talk poster stuff.   Enjoy

In Memoriam -- LEON RUSSELL

I'm playin' a song for you ...

More Tulsa Concert Posters

The posters in the 'More Posters' section are images I have picked up online and / or from reprints, that I will refer to as 'secondary sources' because they are of posters I don't physically possess and haven't photographed from the actual posters (or primary source). I may have downloaded the images from online auctions, websites, blogs, etc. Some have been emailed to me by other collectors and I have photographed a few as they hang on walls at various locations around. Because I don't have the exact poster for reference, accompanying information will be limited. In most cases just the act and year will be available. Also, on reprints the information may not be accurate - it can be different or some info may be incomplete, deleted, etc.
PLEASE if you have any of these posters and wish to sell them  CONTACT ME  , or if you have any not shown, let me know so they can be included. I know it's an impossible dream, but I would like for this site to be as complete as possible. As always, I welcome any suggestions.
